Sitemaps
I created sitemaps based on both business goals and user needs. Our team used journey maps, card sorts, A/B testing, and user interviews as part of its strategy. Since most of our sites were redesigns, I was also able to access visitor data, search terms, and heat maps to see which content needed to be surfaced and which could be removed.
As a member of the design team at University of Alberta Digital Strategy, my role involved:
- Communicating with clients, analytics team, and UX researcher to determine business and user goals for the campus's websites
- Creating wireframes showing proposed user paths through sites
- Designing interfaces and writing HTML and CSS for site components such as media galleries, news teasers, forms, event lists, and carousels
- Supporting the University's brand by using the official colour palette, typography, logos and other aspects of the visual identity
- Continuously improving the functionality and usability of UAlberta's main site and subsite templates
- Developing workshops for UAlberta's trainers in order to educate web users on best practices
- Providing user support for Sitecore, our content management system
This site won a Canadian Regional EduStyle Award for Best Overall Website in 2013.
